November 13 is world Kindness Day, a day instituted in 1997, when some humanitarian associations signed the Declaration of Kindness in Tokyo, Japan, and founded the Japan Small Kindness Movement, which was later joined by other countries. Italy joined in 2009. The purpose of World Kindness Day is “to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness, wich bind us.”

UBUNTU

Un antropologo propose un gioco ad alcuni bambini di un tribù africana. Mise un cesto di frutta vicino ad un albero e disse ai bambini che chi sarebbe arrivato prima avrebbe vinto tutta la frutta.

Quando fu dato il segnale per partire, tutti i bambini si presero per mano e si misero a correre insieme; dopodichè, una volta preso il cesto, si sedettero e si godettero insieme il premio. Quando fu chiesto ai bambini perché avessero voluto correre insieme, visto che uno solo avrebbe potuto prendersi la frutta, risposero: “Ubuntu”: come potrebbe uno solo essere felice , se tutti gli altri sono tristi?.

“Ubuntu” nella cultura africana vuol dire: “Io sono perché noi siamo”.
